Desi Dulhan
is a concept store providing our dulhans with an exclusive range of bridal lehengas at affordable prices. Planning a wedding is undeniably stressful and expensive – the concept to rent a bridal lehenga is an alternative which affords brides the opportunity to save money, perhaps for a honeymoon or dream home. I was recently reminded of the financial strain when shopping for a traditional Indian wedding, striving for that perfect Bollywood look in the ensemble of Indian outfits purchased.
Indian wedding festivities are vibrant, socially engaging and rich in culture. These usually take place over a few days with the bridal couple and their families united in various rituals, adorning themselves with rich, mesmerising colours that is synonymous with our unique heritage.
These carefully selected outfits, however, have a limited lifespan as fashion is constantly evolving with the longevity of an outfit restricted to a mere few occasions. After all, social media and its infinite feed of memories constantly reminds us of who wore what and when! With that being said, I paid a small fortune for my regal looks, money that in hindsight I could have saved if other options had been available.
My husband innocently asked me, why not hire an outfit? Surely then I would have access to sophisticated, exquisite Indian wear without having to invest in it completely. And I found myself thinking, why not? This sparked the idea for a concept store that meets the needs of our stylish, savvy ladies.
